MREs have shunned the port of Motril this summer
Some 20,573 Moroccans from Europe and 5,578 vehicles have passed through the port of Motril since the start of Operation Marhaba on June 13, representing a respective decrease of 23% and 18% compared to the same period last year.
Despite the overall decline, a 50% increase in passengers was recorded on the line with Tangier and 4.4% on the line with Melilla. On the other hand, the connections with Al Hoceima and Nador suffered significant drops of 50% and 79%, it is reported. The Digital Straitquoting José Antonio Montilla, the government’s subdelegate in Granada, who mentioned these figures during his recent visit to the port of Motril.
