Morocco’s discreet operation to free 39 Moroccans in Burma
Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, discusses the release of young Moroccans kidnapped and tortured by criminal networks in Burma and reveals the exact number.
Responding to a question asked by the Popular Movement parliamentary group, the minister explained that these young Moroccans were lured by gang members with tempting promises of employment in e-commerce. Also, he clarified that their number amounts to 39 victims and not more than 100 as reported by some media. There were 24 of them in Burma, five in Laos and five others in Cambodia, detailed the head of Moroccan diplomacy. He will add: the ministry had recently worked in coordination with the Moroccan embassy in Thailand to provide material and administrative assistance to facilitate the return of five other citizens detained in Cambodia.
