Morocco’s ambitious plan to no longer lack water
Faced with increasing pressure on its water resources, Morocco is working hard to develop innovative solutions. Ahmed El Bouari, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, announced an ambitious program for the construction of seawater desalination stations, thus responding to royal directives. The objective? Produce more than 1.7 billion cubic meters of desalinated water by 2030.
This program, detailed by the minister during the oral questions session in the House of Representatives, aims both to supply coastal towns with drinking water and to relieve traditional water resources, particularly for the needs of agriculture. Several regions of the country, particularly affected by the lack of water, will benefit from these new infrastructures.
