Morocco will produce liquefied natural gas

Morocco will produce liquefied natural gas for the first time by the end of 2025, announced Graham Lyon, CEO of the British company Sound Energy, holding an exploration permit of the Tendrara gas field.

The fourth quarter of 2025 will be marked by the production for the first time of liquefied natural gas. “The initial capacity will reach around ten million cubic feet per day, with a progressive rise in power at 40 million cubic feet per day thanks to the development of new deposits,” said Graham Lyon, CEO of Sound Energy, in an interview granted to Asharq. Currently, Morocco produces less than 100 million cubic meters of natural gas per year, from small deposits located west of the country whose reserves are quickly exhausted. The kingdom imports almost all of its needs, estimated at one billion cubic meters annual, mainly via the gas pipeline connecting Spain allowing the import of liquefied natural gas.
