Morocco: When train travel becomes hell

Traveling by train from Rabat or Casablanca to Fez and Oujda or to Marrakech or vice versa during this summer period is proving unbearable. Concerned, the parliamentarian, Mohamed Karim, from the Authenticity and Modernity group in the House of Representatives, calls on the Minister of Transport, Mohamed Abdeljalil.

It is not easy to travel by train during this summer period marked by the influx of tourists. In a written question addressed to the Minister of Transport on the deterioration of the quality of train travel due to the lack of necessary services and means of comfort for passengers, the total absence of air conditioning service despite the stifling temperatures, and the deplorable state of the sanitary facilities as well as the total lack of communication with passengers, MP Mohamed Karim, from the Authenticity and Modernity group in the House of Representatives, stated that passenger travel by train, during the hot summer days, has turned into a suffering and an unbearable experience, especially for long-distance trains (from Rabat or Casablanca to Fez and Oujda or to Marrakech or vice versa), due to the total absence of means of comfort and essential services, even at a minimum.
