Morocco, watermelon champion in France

Morocco was the leading supplier of watermelons to Spain and France in 2023. 65% of Spanish imports and more than 45% of French imports of this fruit come from the kingdom.

Nearly two thirds (65.35%) of Spanish watermelon imports, or 78,500 tonnes (52.36 million euros and an average price of 0.67 euros per kilo), come from Morocco, according to the specialist information site Hortoinfo, specifying that the kingdom has beaten Senegal (16.11%) and Mauritania (10.15%) on the Spanish market.
