Morocco – Tunisia: towards reconciliation?

Tunisia would seek to normalize its diplomatic relations with Morocco. The country would like to ease tensions arising after the reception of Brahim Ghali, the leader of the Polisario, by Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed, during the Africa-Japan summit held in Tunis in 2022.

“The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working to overcome differences with Morocco and seeks to establish balanced and equitable relations with all the capitals of the Greater Maghreb, putting an end to the state of diplomatic immobility with the Kingdom of Morocco, which has been going on for almost three years,” said a source close to the Tunisian ministry. Hespress. Tunisia “is driven by a strong and determined desire to normalize its relations with Morocco and to open a new page with the Moroccan brothers”, affirmed the same source, adding that “the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has undertaken a certain number of initiatives in this regard in recent times”, and that “these initiatives have encountered certain difficulties”.
