Morocco: the rise of the tourism sector
The tourism sector is a source of wealth and employment in Morocco. At the end of June, the Minister of Tourism, Fatima Zahra Ammor, stated that tourism contributes 7% to the gross domestic product (GDP) and generates 2.5 million direct and indirect jobs.
According to official data published by the Ministry of Tourism, 135 new hotel units started their activities in the kingdom in 2023 thanks to investments of around 8 billion dirhams. During the first half of 2024, the Moroccan hotel sector attracted investments of 4 billion dirhams, an increase of 7% year-on-year, indicate the same sources.
