Morocco: the proliferation of mentally ill people is worrying
Many mentally ill people wander the streets of Morocco, causing concern and fear. Concerned, MP Hayat Laaraich, from the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party, sent a written question to the Ministry of Solidarity and Social Integration.
For several weeks, mentally ill people have been settling in the streets of Morocco, particularly in Casablanca. Incidents have been recorded in Lahraouyine and Hay Mohammadi. Some of them are aggressive. And, the attacks carry many risks, including serious bodily injuries for the victims, including cuts, fractures and even death in some cases. These incidents can cause psychological trauma to the victims, leading to anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder, but also an increase in the feeling of fear and insecurity among citizens in public places, significantly affecting the quality of life in the city.
