Morocco: the new automobile giant shakes Spain
Spain sees Morocco as a threat in the automotive industry sector. With low-cost labor and tax incentives in favor of car manufacturers, the kingdom has become, in just five years, the leader in vehicle production in Africa with 700,000 units per year and plans to exceed the million by 2030.
Morocco aims higher in terms of automobile production. The kingdom plans to exceed one million units per year and multiply its automobile exports sixfold by 2030, to reach a turnover of more than 85 billion euros (vehicles and components included), compared to more than 14 billion euros in 2023. In doing so, Morocco is getting closer to Spain’s production capacity which was 1.8 million units in 2023, positioning the country as the second European automotive power after Germany , with an annual production of 4.1 million vehicles, reports The debate.
