Morocco: the keffiyeh of discord

Guest of honor at the graduation ceremony for deserving students of the Higher School of Technology, the dean of the Faculty of Sciences Ben M’sik of Casablanca, Mohammed Talbi, refused to present an award to a recipient because she was wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh. A behavior that sparked indignation among some Moroccans.

Mohammed Talbi hesitated for a moment to get up from his seat when he was asked to present the award to the student in question who was wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh. He eventually went up to the podium and asked the candidate to remove it. She categorically refused and the official returned to his seat without presenting her with the award.
