Morocco: the emergency of public toilets

Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier are seriously lacking in public toilets. A recurring problem deplored by residents, MREs and tourists.

Many major cities such as Casablanca, Marrakech and Tangier suffer from a serious lack of public toilets, as well as the deterioration of those that exist, it is reported. Aljarida24. Most Moroccan cities do not have enough public toilets to meet the needs of citizens, especially in summer when temperatures rise, the Moroccan Association for Consumer Rights confirmed in a statement. To support its claims, the association stated that Jemaa El-Fna square in Marrakech, the most attractive for tourists, has only 20 toilets for a number of visitors ranging from 100,000 to 250,000 people at peak times, while international standards require one toilet for every 10 women and one toilet for every 15 men. As a result, many people use public spaces inappropriately, increasing cleanliness and public health problems.
