Morocco: the arrival of the TGV does not only make people happy
The high-speed train (TGV) project supposed to open up the province of Médiouna, in the Casablanca-Settat region, is encountering resistance from residents. Families from several municipalities, including Mjjatia, Médiouna and Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar, are threatened with expropriation to allow the construction of the railway line.
Informed of the procedures initiated by the provincial authorities, the families concerned went in large numbers to the provincial headquarters and to the various administrative services, as expropriation could deprive them of their housing without sufficient compensation and without guarantee of rehousing.
