Morocco: ten years for a murder at the heart of a blackmail scandal

The Criminal Chamber of First Instance of the Rabat Court of Appeal sentenced a young man accused of the murder of his partner in Salé to ten years in prison.

“The case concerns a serious incident which shook the residents of the Al-Ababda neighborhood in Salé, about a year ago. A young woman in her twenties was found dead after being thrown into the sea in Salé. This drama combining violence, blackmail, betrayal and indecency led to the conviction of the accused,” indicates Al-Akhbar. Prosecuted for “intentional assault and battery resulting in death, indecent assault with violence, public drunkenness, blackmail and threats to publish compromising content”, the young man was sentenced to ten years in prison.
