Morocco: tax evaders soon in court

In Morocco, suspected tax evaders will answer for their actions. The tax administration controllers sent their files to the courts for prosecution.

According to Parliamentarythe files of several business leaders were sent to the prosecutors of the courts of Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Oujda and Tangier. Based on articles 192 and 231 of the General Tax Code, tax inspectors have decided to prosecute these tax evaders, suspected of falsifying invoices with a view to evading payment of taxes, including VAT. Thanks to its modern equipment, tax inspectors can easily detect fraud on invoices which generated losses of nearly 40 billion dirhams for the State in 2022.
