Morocco suspends taxes on the importation of meat and olive oil
In Morocco, the 2025 finance bill (PLF) provides tax exemptions on the importation of certain animals and food products. Objective, to guarantee the availability of consumer products and to cope with rising prices.
In a decision dated October 15 and signed by its director general, Abdellah Janati, the National Food Safety Office (ONSSA) set rules to regulate the importation of red, frozen or refrigerated meat into Morocco. The measure aims to guarantee the availability of quality products on the local market at affordable prices and to relieve the livestock sector, hard hit by the severe drought that has affected the kingdom for almost six years.
