Morocco – Spain: the underwater tunnel project accelerates
The tunnel project under the Strait of Gibraltar, linking Morocco to Spain, continues to progress. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, presented the latest progress on this titanic project to the Moroccan Parliament on Tuesday.
An experimental underwater tunnel will soon be dug. Objective: to precisely analyze the technical and geological challenges of this extraordinary project. For the minister, it is crucial to determine the optimal route, favoring areas least exposed to tectonic constraints. With an estimated length of between 27 and 30 kilometers, the tunnel will require in-depth studies to guarantee its stability.
