Promoters and donors expect to receive London support for the construction of the 3,800 km submarine cable to connect Morocco to the United Kingdom and provide British 8 % of their electrical energy needs.

According to its promoters and various donors, this project should benefit from substantial political support to see the light of day, reports Bloomberg. A commitment from the British authorities should be decisive for the realization of the project. XLINKS, the company in charge of building the project, is also in talks with the British government to obtain a contract guaranteeing a fixed sale price for electricity. The price should be higher than that of British offshore wind, but lower than the agreement in 2016 for the Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant, estimates the company.
