Morocco: palm trees, the unloved
The phenomenon of planting palm trees and felling trees persists in some cities in Morocco, despite campaigns and appeals launched by environmental protection associations to put an end to these practices.
Authorities in major cities such as Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir and Fez continue to plant palm trees in the streets, ignoring calls from environmental groups to end this practice which has devastating effects on the environment.
