Morocco: Most airports will be expanded

In anticipation of the 2030 World Cup, which it will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal, Morocco will expand several airports, including Marrakech-Menara Airport, to boost tourism. The National Airports Office (ONDA) has launched two calls for tenders in this regard.

Morocco is working to achieve its ambition of increasing the total capacity of its airports to 80 million passengers per year, compared to 40 million passengers currently, before major events, including the 2030 World Cup, which it will co-organize with Spain and Portugal. The National Airports Office (ONDA) has launched a pre-selection call for tenders for the extension of the Marrakech-Menara airport, bringing its total surface area to 142,000 m², with a capacity of 16 million passengers per year. Scheduled for 2019, this extension was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
