Morocco issues new rules for scooters

Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, wants to regulate the use of scooters and other new means of transport.

Responding to a question about the emergence of new means of transport on public roads during a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Infrastructure, Energy, Mines and Environment on the issue of road safety on July 9, Mohamed Abdeljalil said that two draft decrees have been prepared and are in the process of being approved. They aim to establish definitions for the concepts of “motorized personal mobility vehicle” and “pedal-assisted bicycle”; to define the conditions and technical characteristics required for the motorized personal mobility vehicle and the pedal-assisted bicycle; and to establish traffic rules on the roads in accordance with the requirements of road safety and the safety of public road users.
