Morocco imposes itself where France falls back
Having fallen from grace, France requested Morocco’s help to free President Mohamed Bazoum, detained in Niamey since his overthrow in July 2023.
The release of President Mohamed Bazoum was discussed during Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Rabat, from October 28 to 30, assures the newspaper The World the entourage of the former head of state. The transition regime imposes two conditions: Bazoum resigns or goes into exile. For more than a year, the president overthrown at the end of July 2023 by a coup d’état has not heard it that way. However, he did not raise the possibility of a departure to Morocco.
