Morocco: fine for an American pharmaceutical giant
American pharmaceutical giant Viatris Inc. has been fined 7.58 million dirhams (around $760,000) by the Moroccan competition authority. At issue: the group did not notify its creation resulting from the merger between Mylan and Upjohn (Pfizer) in 2020, as required by regulations.
The fine, which represents 2.5% of the turnover achieved by Viatris in Morocco in 2022, was paid to the Moroccan treasury. The company has chosen not to contest the decision and is waiving an appeal, reports Reuters.
