Morocco: Fear of tsunami revived by videos

Following the alleged installation of signs warning of areas and streets at risk of tsunamis in coastal cities, including on the beach in the Moroccan city of El Jadida, and the recent circulation of videos on social media showing the sea receding, many Moroccans are fearing the occurrence of a natural disaster. Could a tsunami really hit Morocco?

The drop in water levels on some Moroccan coasts this year is not a new phenomenon since it was observed in the Sidi Ifni region last year, explained to Al3omq Ahmed Amezghal, president of the Association of Teachers of Life and Earth Sciences in Morocco, regional section of Souss-Massa, adding that this phenomenon has been repeated in many countries such as Palestine, Lebanon and several European countries. Climate change, the depth of water or the position of the planets, or even the gravity of the moon and the sun would be at the origin of this phenomenon.
