Morocco: Dramatic roqya session for an MRE
Prosecuted while under arrest for attempted rape of a Moroccan woman living abroad (MRE), a raqi from Imouzzer Kandar, in the Fez-Meknes region, was sentenced to prison.
The Criminal Division of First Instance of the Court of Appeal of Fez sentenced the raqi to three years in prison. He must also pay 10,000 dirhams in compensation to the victim. He is accused of events that took place last summer. A Moroccan woman living abroad (MRE) had gone to his home to benefit from a roqya (spiritual healing) session. During the session, the raqi had started to touch intimate parts of her body. Embarrassed, the MRE left the healer’s home and then went straight to the police to report him.
