Morocco depends on Russia and France for its wheat
Like last year, Morocco plans to import more wheat from Russia and France in order to compensate for the drop in national production and satisfy local demand.
Morocco needs 5 to 5.5 million tonnes of soft wheat this year to make up for its deficit. The kingdom will be able to count on France, its main supplier, but also on Russia, the world leader in cereal exports. “The Russians offer superior quality while offering the most competitive prices on the market,” Omar Yacoubi, president of the National Federation of Cereals and Legumes Traders (FNCL), recently explained to French media, adding that this new policy of imports was “strictly cyclical”.
