Morocco denounces Algerian deception

Morocco claims that Algeria’s attempt to involve the Polisario in the 9th edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), which takes place from August 24 to 25 in Japan, has had a negative impact on the summit, as it ended in complete failure, especially for African countries.

On August 23, members of the separatist movement arrived in Tokyo with Algerian diplomatic passports and infiltrated the meeting room where the preparatory meeting for the 9th edition of TICAD was taking place with badges of the Algerian delegation. One of them “opened his briefcase and took out a plate marked ‘Sahrawi Republic’ which he placed in front of him. Except that the typology of the plate does not resemble in any way that of the countries invited to this meeting. Immediately, a Japanese official provided clarifications: “The presence of this entity in no way signifies recognition” and Japan “does not recognize this entity.”
