Morocco delivers a man to Israel: a gesture that sparks debate

Suspected of having planted an explosive device near an Israeli Ministry of Health building in Nazareth in 2022, Nassim Qalibat was extradited from Morocco to Israel. After fleeing to Morocco following the incident, Qalibat was arrested by Moroccan authorities in January 2023 at the request of Israel. The extradition, which took place last month, marks a legal precedent since there is no extradition agreement between the two countries.

The incident dates back to April 2022. Qalibat, according to the indictment, placed an explosive device near the building before detonating it remotely. Arrested in Morocco in January 2023, his extradition was requested by Israeli authorities and finally granted last month. He arrived in Israel on Tuesday December 17.
