A human rights activist was sentenced by the Sefrou town court of first instance for posts on Facebook.
Prosecuted for inciting discrimination and hatred between people by electronic means, insulting a constitutional institution by the same means and incitement to commit crimes by electronic means, Samira Kacimi received a three-month sentence on Thursday imprisonment and a fine of 3,000 dirhams. A member of the branch of the Moroccan Association for Human Rights in the town of Sefrou, she was arrested in a hairdressing salon where she worked by elements of the gendarmerie of the territorial center. The public prosecutor ordered her incarceration at the local prison on October 17 and decided to prosecute her under arrest. He had also rejected the request for conditional release due to the existence of legal guarantees of presence.
