Morocco: Changes in sight for income tax

In Parliament, Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, responsible for the Budget, announced that the government of Aziz Akhannouch plans to initiate a review of income tax (IR) in the next draft finance law (PLF).

The revision of income tax is becoming clearer. During an oral question session in the Chamber of Advisors, Fouzi Lekjaa stressed that the government “has committed to the various social partners to revise the IR scale in the next draft finance law, in order to ease the pressure on employees subject to withholding tax”. He recalled that after the tax reform of the 1980s in Morocco, a debate on tax management was opened and was the subject of national meetings. This is how a set of conclusions was drawn up in 2019, which were translated into the framework law in 2021 and whose implementation began in 2022.
