Morocco at the Paris Olympics: bronze to save honor

The Moroccan Olympic team does not want to return home without a medal. Failing gold, Tarik Sektioui’s team hopes to win bronze by beating Egypt on Thursday.

After a historic run, the Atlas Lion Cubs were eliminated by Spain (1-2) in the semi-finals of the Paris Olympics football tournament. In eight participations, this is the first time that Morocco has reached this level of the competition. The Moroccan Olympic team was eliminated in the group stage during the 1964, 1984, 1992, 2000, 2004, and 2012 editions and reached the quarter-finals at the 1972 Munich Olympics. After its successive failures, it missed the Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
