Morocco and Algeria: economic opportunities spoiled by political disputes

Despite the tensions which have exacerbated in recent years, there is a need for a rapprochement between Morocco and Algeria to develop economic partnerships.

While Morocco, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, is moving forward on the road to development, Algeria is regressing on almost all levels, notes the Jeune Afrique magazine, adding that unlike Rabat which has managed to maintain its political stability, attract foreign investments and strengthen its bilateral cooperation with countries like the United States and Israel, Algiers has become a champion in the violation of public liberties and focuses its efforts solely on the hydrocarbon sector.
