Morocco-Algeria: towards open war? The specter of conflict worries



Many observers of Moroccan-Algerian relations reacted following the declarations of Nasser Bourita, Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs before the Foreign Affairs Commission, regarding the Algerian intention to go to war against the kingdom.


According to some political analysts, the successive diplomatic setbacks suffered by Algeria, particularly on the issue of the Sahara, would push the eastern neighbor to consider opening an armed conflict with the kingdom. Tensions between the two countries do not date from today and have been exacerbated in recent years due to the Sahara issue, recalled Moroccan expert Driss Effina to Rue20highlighting Algeria’s diplomatic and political support for the Polisario Front and the intensification of Algerian military maneuvers on the borders with Morocco.
