Morocco: 5G in 2025
Morocco is accelerating its digital transition. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, announced Monday in Rabat the upcoming launch of the 5G. This fifth generation technology will be deployed in the Kingdom in anticipation of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) in 2025 and the FIFA World Cup in 2030.
The Moroccan government is targeting 5G coverage of 25% of the population by 2026. This rate should reach 70% in 2030, the minister said. Cities hosting World Cup matches will benefit from full 5G coverage. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni detailed this plan during an oral question session in the House of Representatives, in response to a question relating to digital services in mountain areas.
