Moroccans call for a boycott of Algerian dates
As Ramadan approaches, the date, a fruit widely consumed during this fasting period, finds itself at the heart of a commercial dispute between Morocco and Algeria. In one of the Casablanca markets, Moroccan traders demonstrated against the importation of Algerian dates.
“The Moroccan people do not want Algerian dates,” chanted the protesters, demanding an end to the importation of these fruits from Algeria. For the demonstrators, this action comes against a backdrop of growing political tensions with Algeria and aims to support local date production.
