Moroccan tourism boosted by MREs
It’s confirmed: Morocco has surpassed Egypt and become the most visited country in Africa in 2024 after reaching a new tourism record. Moroccans living abroad (MRE) contributed significantly to this feat.
The improvement has been confirmed for Moroccan tourism. “The Morocco destination hits hard in 2024. With 17.4 million tourists at the end of December, Morocco achieves in advance the ambitious objective of its roadmap, initially planned for 2026”, indicates the Ministry of Tourism, ‘Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy in a press release. Compared to 2023, this is an increase of 20% compared to 2023, or nearly 3 million additional tourists. With this new record, Morocco surpasses Egypt which did not cross the 15.7 million mark in 2024 and becomes the most visited country in Africa last year.
