Moroccan Sahara: tomorrow Russia?

During a press conference on Russia’s diplomatic successes and the challenges encountered in 2024, Sergei Lavrov, head of Russian diplomacy, made a promise to Morocco on the Sahara issue.

The Rabat-Moscow axis is strengthening. “Morocco is a friendly country. We have good projects and we are helping the Moroccans to resolve the problems that fall under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in particular the Sahara issue,” said Sergei Lavrov. He notes, however, that “previous resolutions, adopted more than forty years ago in favor of the right to self-determination of the Sahara, have proven ineffective. » For him, “it is necessary to seek agreements accepted by all”. The head of Russian diplomacy will add: “We know how important this is for Morocco and we will do our best to move things forward.”
