Algeria is not digesting the French recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara and is thinking of “punishing” France. Will it take economic sanctions against Paris as it did with Spain?
Algeria’s recall of its ambassador from Paris is just one step in reducing diplomatic representation. Algiers is planning other, more drastic measures against France. While it has not yet revealed these measures, Information about Africa believes that it would not go so far as to take economic sanctions against Paris. However, the levers of pressure at its disposal are mainly linked to commercial relations, such as gas exports, agreements and investment projects linked to French investments on its territory.
