Moroccan products: anger brews among Spanish farmers

Spanish farmers are demanding the immediate suspension of the free trade agreement between the EU and Morocco, denouncing the unfair competition they face from Moroccan fruit and vegetable producers, particularly tomatoes.

Last October, the EU Court of Justice annulled the fisheries and agriculture agreements signed in 2019 between the EU and Morocco, on the grounds that they were concluded without “the consent of the people of Western Sahara “. However, the Community court granted a margin of one year before the application of this decision in order to avoid “serious negative consequences for the Union’s external action”.
