Moroccan doctor jailed for ‘insulting Islam’ on Facebook
A general practitioner has been remanded in custody in Aïn Aïcha prison following accusations of offending Islam. The incriminating posts on his Facebook page were deemed to be a attack on Islam, Muslims, the Koran and to the prophet Mohammad.
The Taounate Court of First Instance postponed the trial for a week. He will then be prosecuted for this offence, in accordance with the Penal Code, which provides for penalties of up to five years in prison for offences committed by public means.
