Moroccan customs on alert
Moroccan importers and Turkish exporters are suspected of customs fraud. Moroccan customs is carrying out in-depth investigations.
According to informed sources, regional customs control teams have subjected cargoes of Turkish imports, mainly composed of ready-made clothing and household equipment, transiting through the ports of Tanger-Med and Casablanca, to in-depth investigations into suspicions of manipulation of values declared on invoices, reports Hespress. Moroccan importers and Turkish exporters are said to be at work. These suspicions follow the discovery by the monitoring and risk analysis unit of the National Customs Brigade of fraudulent practices: the invoice values of certain imported products were reduced in order to circumvent high customs duties and to pay less taxes.
