Moroccan Bride Refuses Amazigh Attire, Marriage Ends in Divorce

A wedding in Morocco had an unexpected and sad outcome. The groom divorced the same evening as the wedding, following his young wife’s refusal to wear the traditional Amazigh outfit.

According to local witnesses, the young woman had prepared to wear several traditional costumes, as is customary at Moroccan weddings. But the fairy tale turned into a nightmare. The bride refused to wear the Berber outfit, considering it “old-fashioned” and preferring more modern outfits in her eyes. This decision angered the groom and his family, for whom the Amazigh outfit is a very important element of their cultural identity.
