Marrakech airport paralyzed by floods
The Marrakech-Menara international airport was temporarily paralyzed by flooding caused by the torrential rains which fell on the ocher city.
In the space of a few minutes, heavy flooding affected several alleys and streets on Sunday, transformed into rivers due to the intensity of the torrential rains of around 25 mm. These torrential rains, exceeding the maximum capacity of the rainwater drainage systems, caused damage to some pipes at Marrakech-Menara airport, causing more or less heavy infiltration in certain areas of the terminal, indicates the National Airports Office (ONDA) in a press release, specifying that airport infrastructure and operations were affected without major impact on activity. However, some arriving flights had to be diverted due to poor weather conditions.
