Maroc Telecom under fire from critics

As Morocco prepares to host major events including the African Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and the 2030 World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, Maroc Telecom, which holds the internet monopoly, continues to provide mediocre services at very high prices.

Unlike telecommunications companies in Spain, Maroc Telecom headed by Abdeslam Ahizoune is the only company in the Mediterranean countries that offers its customers the most expensive fiber optic services with poor quality. The 100 mega “Fiber” service costs 500 dirhams per month, but the quality leaves something to be desired. Spanish telecommunications companies, on the other hand, offer their customers the 600 mega “Fiber” service for around 430 dirhams per month, with additional advantages in terms of speed and quality. Customers also have the option of benefiting from two mobile phone numbers with 50 Giga and 5G.
