Mantes-la-Ville mosque reopens after long legal battle

Closed since the end of May by decision of the Versailles administrative court, which placed the Association of Muslims of Mantes Sud (AMMS) under receivership on April 23, the Mantes-la-Ville mosque is once again welcoming its faithful.

Since the beginning of September, the Mantes-la-Ville mosque has reopened its doors to worshippers following the suspension of the decision of the Versailles administrative court. The latter had decided to place the Association of Muslims of Mantes Sud (AMMS) under receivership on April 23. A decision motivated by an unpaid invoice balance by the association, which used the company AJS BAT to carry out major works in 2018. The association is said to be in “cessation of payment” and is “permanently burdened and unable to meet its debt”. “Out of a total bill of €204,000, we had paid €178,000 and had refused to pay the remaining €26,000 because the company, which had itself been liquidated at that time, had abandoned the site without completing the work,” declared the AMMS, which assures its loyal followers “of its good health and its good financial management,” the AMMS had said in a press release.
