Luxury car trafficking: an Algerian arrested in Tangier
Elements of the Ksar Sghir gendarmerie arrested an individual suspected of being involved in international luxury car trafficking. The suspect, of Algerian nationality, was presented to the King’s prosecutor at the Tangier court of first instance, who ordered his placement in preventive detention.
The investigation revealed that the individual belonged to an organized criminal network that stole luxury cars in Europe to transport them to Morocco. The modus operandi of this network consisted of falsifying the papers of stolen vehicles in order to pass them off as legally imported vehicles. Once introduced into Moroccan territory, the vehicles were resold on the black market, often in spare parts.
