La Roja goes off the rails: anti-Morocco chants after Euro victory
Players from the Spanish national football team, winners of Euro 2024, are at the heart of a controversy. On Monday, during a celebration in Cibeles Square in Madrid, they sang hostile chants against Morocco.
It was player Rodri Hernandez who sang the song “Gibraltar is Spanish, Gibraltar is Spanish” as he got off the bus that transported the team to Plaza Cibeles in Madrid. Later, Álvaro Morata, captain of La Roja, sang the same song on the podium, in front of thousands of fans and supporters, and his teammates repeated in chorus: “and Morocco too”.
