King Mohammed VI grants Moroccan nationality to two MMA champions
Morocco rolls out the red carpet for the Naurdiev brothers, rising figures in MMA. By an exceptional gesture, King Mohammed VI granted the Moroccan nationality to Ismail and Islam Naurdiev, athletes of Russian origin who have repeatedly proclaimed their admiration for the kingdom.
This naturalization, made official by royal decrees, goes well beyond a simple passport. It exempts the two brothers from the five-year waiting period generally required before being able to run for certain public or political offices, as stipulated in article 17 of the Moroccan nationality law. A rare privilege, reserved for foreigners who have rendered exceptional services to the country.
