Karim Bouamrane would like to become Prime Minister

The Franco-Moroccan Karim BouamranePS mayor of Saint-Ouen since 2020, is coveting the post of Prime Minister for which French President Emmanuel Macron has still not announced his decision. However, he is making his possible appointment conditional.

In France, the appointment of a new Prime Minister is still awaited. Invited onto the TF1 set, Karim Bouamrane, who claims to be “not a candidate for anything at all”, nevertheless displays his ambition to occupy the post. “If my phone rings, (…) if the President of the Republic says to me: ‘Hello, Mr. Bouamrane, do you want to become Prime Minister?’, I will take the information and I will turn to my political party (…) the Socialist Party, and I will discuss exactly the means to be able to achieve this”. The Saint-Ouen mayor makes his possible appointment to the post of Prime Minister conditional on consultation with all the political parties united within the New Popular Front (NFP). If “the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the Green Party and all those who make up the New Popular Front (…) say ‘we agree’, we are OK to find a way”. And, this will also involve discussions “with all the parties in the Republican bloc, measure by measure,” he added. “A collective responsibility when you are a socialist is to find the paths to compromise,” which does not mean “compromise,” continued the PS elected official.
