Jordanians angry with Houcine Ammouta

Jordanian fans slam Moroccan coach Houcine Ammouta after signing a contract with the Emirati club Al Jazira. They accuse him of preferring Emirati money when he had previously announced that he would leave his position in Jordan and join the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), returning to Morocco due to family constraints.

Houcine Ammouta won the hearts of Jordanian fans by leading the Jordanian national team to a historic feat in the Asian Cup (final of the competition) in just nine months, but he was unable to maintain this “love”. “Several indications, even before reaching the Asian Cup final, indicated that Ammouta did not want to continue with the Jordanian national team despite the significant moral and logistical support he had received. (…) Ammouta always mentioned special circumstances and family constraints that forced him to return to Morocco, but that in the end, he preferred the most significant financial offer,” commented a Jordanian journalist and sports critic. This choice angered the Jordanians.
